Falcons Fall in Friday Contests

CHICAGO, Ill. – The CUW baseball team traveled down to Illinois Tech for their first of three consecutive doubleheaders for the weekend.

The Blue and White fell in both games of the doubleheader.

Game one saw an 8-5 Scarlet Hawk victory.

The Falcons scored all five runs on home runs. Junior Jimmy Juergensen (Cedarburg, Wis.) launched a three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning for the first Falcon runs. Freshman Matt Miller (Fredonia, Wis.) followed that up with a solo shot in the top of the seventh for the fourth Falcon run.

Juergensen launched his second home run of the game in the top of the eighth for the final Falcon run.

Senior Ryan Green (Green Bay, Wis.) pitched 6.2 innings and recorded two strikeouts.

In game two, the Scarlet Hawks took home a 14-4 victory in eight innings.

Senior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.) scored in the top of the third inning on a wild pitch.

The Blue and White benefitted from another homerun this time off the bat of senior Tristan Largent (Verona, Wis.) which drove in sophomore Josh Aguiniga (Chicago, Ill.) in the top of the fourth inning.

Aguiniga crossed the plate one more time on an error by the Scarlet Hawk second baseman.

Sophomore Zach Slome (Schaumburg, Ill.) struck out two batters in his two innings on the mound.

The Blue and White will face the No. 6 ranked Spartans of Aurora on Saturday before finishing up their weekend with the Eagles of Benedictine on Sunday.
