Falcons Cruise at Concordia Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team returned to the win column on Wednesday evening at Concordia Chicago. The Falcons picked up a 5-2 victory to improve to 4-3 on the year and to 4-2 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

The Falcons won the doubles point on Wednesday with a convincing sweep of the doubles courts.

Freshman Katelyn de Guzman (Belvidere, Ill.) and freshman Jaia Underwood (Glendale, Wis.) were the first off the court with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.

At No. 1 doubles, freshman Ruth Dolde (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and senior Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) caged the cats, 6-1.

Sophomore Morgan Chyla (Salem Lakes, Wis.) and sophomore Payton Steward (Appleton, Wis.) brought out the brooms on court two with a 6-2 victory.

Junior Abby Schwartz (Brookfield, Wis.) secured the first single point with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Mary Curtis at No. 5 singles.

The Cougars clawed back with a point at No. 2 singles.

Peyton Morgan extended the lead with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Tatiana Overton at No. 1 singles.

At No. 6 singles, freshman Jeanie Eisen (West Bend, Wis.) overwhelmed Evian Dubon, 7-5, 7-6 (2).

Peyton Steward silenced Amirah Shakir at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

The Maroon and Gold ended the match with a win at court three.

The Falcons will face some familiar foes on Saturday when they host Edgewood and Marian.
