Falcons Host the First-Ever CFHC Game

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team hosted the University of Mary Washington in the first-ever Collegiate Field Hockey Conference game. The Eagles soared to a 4-0 victory to send the Falcons to 1-5.

Mary Washington took command early with a pair of goals in the first 70 seconds.

The Eagles closed the first quarter with a 12-3 advantage in shots. The Falcons finished the first quarter with a pair of shots from junior Katie Quirke (Antioch, Ill.) and one from junior Katelyn Cardinale (Mt. Laurel, N.J.).

UMW added to the lead in the 22nd minute and took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Mary Washington notched 11 more shots in the third quarter and scored in the 45th minute.

Sophomore Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ont.) collected 17 saves in the first three quarters. The 17 saves are a career-best for Cawthray

The Falcons were able to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter and held UMW to four shots.

Freshman Carlijn van der Bend (Voorburg, Netherlands) stopped all three shots she faced in the fourth quarter.

Mary Washington held a 36-5 advantage in shots on Saturday. Katie Quirke and Katelyn Cardinale both had two shots.

Katelyn Cardinale also collected four defensive saves against the Eagles.

The Falcons look to level the weekend results on Sunday morning against Centre.
