Colonels Clip Concordia

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team fought hard on Sunday afternoon but fell short against Centre in a non-conference matchup. The 1-0 loss sends the Falcons to 1-6 on the year and Centre to 3-4.

The Colonels attacked the Concordia net early in the first quarter and sophomore Emily Robertson (Canton, Mich.) started the day with a defensive save.

The Black and Gold held a 7-0 lead in shots in the first quarter.

The contest's lone goal came in the 25th minute on a goal from Maggie Will.

Centre had a 12-0 shot advantage in the first half.

Emily Robertson posted another defensive save in the first quarter.

The Falcons' lone shot of the day came from sophomore Caitlyn Weitzel (Fallston, Md.) with a shot that just missed wide in the 58th minute.

Freshman Carlijn van der Bend (Voorburg, Netherlands) finished with nine saves on 10 shots faced.

The Colonels held a 26-1 advantage in shots and a 5-0 margin in penalty corners.

The Falcons return to Collegiate Field Hockey Conference play on Saturday against Marian.
