MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team came out on top of the Battle of Concordia on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons defeated Concordia Chicago, 6-1, to improve to 4-4 on the year and 4-3 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
Freshman Abigail Haley (Frohna, Mo.) and sophomore Katelyn de Guzman (Belvidere, Ill.) earned the first point and ended the No. 3 doubles match with an ace at 6-1.
Junior Payton Steward (Appleton, Wis.) and freshman Taylor Weiner (Bakersfield, Calif.) secured the doubles point with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Freshman Claire Kelley (Dubuque, Iowa) and senior Maddie Brashaw (Sheboygan, Wis.) brought out the doubles broom with a 6-2 victory on court one.
Katelyn de Guzman grounded Arriyanna Arnison at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Abigail Haley hushed Hannah Upole at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Payton Steward secured a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kathleen Castillo, 6-1, 6-0.
Taylor Weiner wrangled Courtneye Schneider at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Maddie Brashaw brought down Amirah Shakir at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
The Falcons close out the fall season next week against MSOE.
