ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's soccer team took care of business on the road on Wednesday evening. The Falcons soared to a 3-0 victory over the Regent to improve to 3-8-3 on the year and stays in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference playoffs at 2-5-1 with seven points.
The Falcons scored first on Wednesday, freshman Matthew Payne (Franklin, Ind.) was left unmarked in the 19th minute and headed the ball into the right side of the box off a cross from sophomore Elias Ramon (Huntley, Ill.).
The Birds attacked again in the 43rd minute, when sophomore Nevin Volarath (Algonquin, Ill.) scored from 10 yards out after he snuck past the defense off a pass from Jahsiah Acosta (Milwaukee, Wis.).
Nevin Volarath struck again in the 88th minute with a beauty of a shot off a pass from freshman Ronan Kessler (Glenview, Ill.)
Wednesday was the first multi-goal performance for Volarath at Concordia.
Senior Enrique Torres (Eau Claire, Wis.) tallied four saves in the shutout victory.
The Blue and White held a 36-14 advantage in shots on Wednesday.
The three goals are a season-best for the Falcons.
The Falcons return home on Saturday and will host the Green Knights of St. Norbert.
