Field Hockey Begins East Coast Trip at Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team fell to Mary Washington, 6-0, on Saturday. This was the first game in a two-game road trip for the Falcons in the Baltimore-Washington Metro Area.

CUW knew that had some tough competition to face going into the contest. In the most recent edition of the NCAA DII Regional Rankings (Oct. 12) the Eagles were ranked fifth in the Region VI.

The Falcons struggle to maintain possession of the ball in their offensive zone. The squads' four shots all came in the final minutes of the game. Katelyn Cardinale (senior-Mt. Laurel, N.J.), Charlie Coln (freshman-St. Louis, Mo.), Katie Quirke (senior-Antioch, Ill.), and Bella Vandeloecht (junior-St. Louis, Mo.) got of shots.

On defense, Vandeloecht earned the only defensive save of the game. In goal to start the game was Parks Cawthray, Carlijn van der Bend subbed in the final 11 minutes of the game. The duo faced 33 shots from the Eagles, Cawthray collected 14 saves and van der Bend at four.

Concordia Wisconsin will travel north to play Goucher tomorrow in Baltimore, Md. The two teams will face-off at Beldon Field at noon CT.
