Women’s Cross Country Claims Third-Straight State Title

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's cross country team claimed its third-straight title at the Wisconsin Private College Championships. The Falcons claimed the crown with 32 points on Saturday morning. St. Norbert finished in second place at 39 points.

The Falcons featured a one-two punch on Saturday.

Junior Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) broke the course record with a career-best time of 22:12.1.

Senior Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) finished in second place on Saturday at 23:44.5.

Senior Abigail Poehlman (Hubertus, Wis.) produced a time of 24:41.1 in seven place.

Senior Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) also earned First Team All-State honors in eighth place at 24:45.8.

Senior Elizabeth Van Rixel (Athens, Wis.) shattered her career-best time at 25:36.5 in 18th place.

Junior Mikayla Becker (Plantation, Fla.) also brought in Second Team All-State accolades in 20th place at 26:08.8.

Sophomore Annabelle Gonnering (West Bend, Wis.) finished in 25th place at 27:04.0.

In 28th place was junior Bailee Schlender (Brillion, Wis.) at 27:24.9.

Junior Sydney Leschisin (Turtle Lake, Wis.) crossed the finish line at 27:58.3 for the best time of her career in 31st place.

Freshman Nia Petropoulos (Muskego, Wis.) cruised to her fastest time of her career in 42nd place at 29:36.8.

Junior Jenna Oberly (Dearborn, Mich.) rounded out CUW for her fastest time as a Falcon on Saturday in 54th place at 31:36.4.

The Falcons look to defend another title on Nov. 1 at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships at the Shorewood Cross Country Course in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
