MEQUON, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA men's Division II team lost, 2-4, to Michigan State in their final game of the 2025 CUW Showcase. This year's showcase featured six games with four teams competing: CUW, Indiana, Trine, and MSU. The Falcons went 1-2 while hosting the Showcase, with their sole win being Friday against Trine.
Â
Despite two straight days of games, the Falcons came out energized and ready to play. The Spartans disrupted the Royal Blue and Grey's energy and took control of the game, finding the net first.
Â
With the game in MSU's favor, CUW responded with a goal of their own four minutes into the second period. After a shot by junior
Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.), graduate student
Andrew Malek (Milwaukee, Wis.)Â took the puck and scored, tying the game at one each.
Â
The Spartans responded with two goals less than a minute apart from each other, five minutes later. Emme was the one to close in the gap with an unassisted goal at the six-minute mark.
Â
The third period was neck-and-neck between the two squads. With only two minutes remaining in the contest, the Falcons pulled their goalie to have an extra man on offense. They kept the puck in their offensive zone, but the Spartans' defense held strong to keep the game in their favor.
Â
CUW finished the contest with 24 shots, leading team was Emme with 10 shots. Sophomore
Rocco Cicirello (Mequon, Wis.) had three on the day. In goal was senior
Austin Bartell (New Berlin, Wis.), who played in goal all three games this weekend. Bartell collected 39 saves in 43 shots faced. Assisting Bartell in the defensive zone was sophomore
Nolan O'Malley (Chicago, Ill.), who had four blocked shots.
Â
Concordia Wisconsin will play St. Norbert next weekend. The first game of the contest will be hosted by CUW on Friday with puck drop slated for 7 p.m. at the Ozaukee Ice Center. The Green Knights will take hosting duties on Saturday at the Cornerstone Community Center at 1:30 p.m.
