Men's Soccer Defeats Lakeland 4-2

PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin men's soccer team secured its third conference win this season with a 4-2 win over Lakeland. The Falcons and 4-10-3 on the season and 3-7-1 in NACC play. The squad is still fighting for a spot in the conference tournament with only one game left in the regular season.
 
This was the first time this season that the Royal Blue and Gray had scored four goals in a contest. The Falcons scored two goals in each half and held the Muskies to one goal in each half.
 
Sophomore Mateo Nabben (Belle River, Canada) scored his second goal this season just 19 minutes into the game. Nabben was set up for the scoring shot by freshman Matthew Payne (Franklin, Ind.). Lakeland responded quickly, scoring just 63 seconds later.
 
At the 37-minute mark, senior Lukas Olson (Eau Claire, Wis.)  also scored his second goal this season with an assist from sophomore Harris Burgos (Milwaukee, Wis.).
 
Graduate student Sam Butterfield (St. Louis, Mo.) secured his first goal of the season 7:34 into the second half. Butterfield was assisted by sophomore Jahsiah Acosta (Milwaukee, Wis.). Just seven minutes later, sophomore Huba Hajdu (Las Vegas, Nev.) scored the final Falcon goal of the game, his third of the season. Payne earned his second assist of the game on the goal.
 
CUW ended the game with 11 shots, seven of which were on goal. Burgos led the team with three, and Olson came off the bench and had two shots.
 
Senior Enrique Torres (Eau Claire, Wis.) was the netminder for the Falcons. Torres collected three saves while facing eight shots.
 
Concordia Wisconsin's final game of the regular season is on the road at Marian. First kick is slated for 7 p.m. at Smith Field in Fond du Lac, Wis.
