Falcons Battled in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team closed its Tennessee trip on Sunday afternoon at Rhodes. The Lynx snuck away with a 4-0 Collegiate Field Hockey Conference (CFHC) victory.

Rhodes had 34 shots on Sunday, including 30 on goal.

Sophomore Carlijn van der Bend (Voorsburg, Netherlands) had 13 saves on 17 shots faced and junior Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) stopped all four of her shots she saw on Sunday.

The Concordia defense also came up big on Sunday with nine defensive saves. Sophomore Naomi Little (Hartland, Wis.) and junior Bella Vandeloecht (St. Louis, Mo.) both finished with three defensive saves, while junior Leah Mouganis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had two and sophomore Anna Washburn (Suffield, Conn.) had one.

The loss sends Concordia to 4-9 on the year and 0-4 in the Collegiate Field Hockey Conference. Today's result also locks CUW in as the sixth seed in the CFHC Tournament in November.

The Falcons close the regular season on Saturday with a quick trip up to Fond Du Lac to face Marian in a CFHC battle. Concordia claimed a thrilling 1-0 double-overtime victory over the Sabres earlier this season.
