Falcons Take Silver; Ahrens Wins Gold

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's cross country team battled at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons finished in second place with a team score of 47 points. The Spartans of Aurora claimed the team title at 32 points.

Junior Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) cruised to the individual title with a winning time of 22:35.7. Ahrens is the third Concordia Wisconsin runner to win the NACC women's individual title, joining Samantha Gries (2009) and LaNea Bartel (Spring 2021).

Senior Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) earned the silver medal at 23:36.0

Senior Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) also earned All-Conference honors in sixth place at 23:51.5.

Senior Abigail Poehlman (Hubertus, Wis.) picked up a 16th-place finish at 24:45.2.

Senior Elizabeth Van Rixel (Athens, Wis.) finished in 22nd place at 25:13.7.

In 25th place was junior Abigail Lange (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) at 25:26.5, just ahead of junior Mikayla Becker (Plantation, Fla.) in 26th place at 25:28.7.

Junior Bailee Schlender (Brillion, Wis.) was in 36th place at 26:23.6.

Junior Sydney Leschisin (Turtle, Lake, Wis.) was clocked in at 27:17.7 in 47th place.

Freshman Nia Petropoulos (Muskego, Wis.) picked up 57th place honors at 28:22.6.

Junior Jenna Oberly (Dearborn, Wis.) crossed the line at 29:49.8 in 67th place.

Freshman Madison Towne (Ottawa, Ill.) tallied a time of 30:08.7 in 70th place.

The Falcons will run again on Nov. 15 at the NCAA Division II North Regional Championships.
