Falcons Take Down Raiders 7-1 On the Road

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's ice hockey team defeated MSOE, 7-1, to take the series. The Falcons swept the Raiders, and have never lost a game to them since the rival program began last season. This win also puts the Royal Blue and Grey on a four-game win streak, and are undefeated in conference play.

The last time the Falcons score seven goals in a fame was in the Slaats Cup Playoffs last season, when they beat Marian 7-0 on Saturday Feb. 22 in Mequon.

Junior Naomi Black (Ottawa, Ontario) got the goal party started for the Falcons less than five minutes into the game. Black was able to find the back of the net with help from senior Makayla Spejcher (Green Bay, Wis.) and junior Ava Litkey (Kenosha, Wis.).

The Raiders responded nearly 16 minutes later by the tie was short lived. Mackaylan McGown scored just 46 seconds later, Black and Litkey earned assists on the play.

CUW scored two goals again in the third. First was an unassisted goal by freshman Maddy Jugan (Hartford, Wis.), her first collegiate goal. Junior Brenna-Grace Dittmer's (Chatham-Kent, Ontario) goal from Spejcher and freshman (St. Albert, Alberta) Faith Fedyniak followed with 1:10 left in the period.

The final period included three goals by the Falcons in the first five minutes. Junior Chanler Taylor (Bloomington, Ill.) scored two of them. Black earned an assist on both goals and McGown also earned one on the second goal. This was also Taylors's first-time score in her collegiate career. Spejcher score in between Taylor's two goals with the help of freshman Abby Hansberger (Elk River, Minn.) and Fedyniak.

In goal for the Falcons was junior Carolyn Bourgeault (Buffalo, N.Y.). With 11 saves, Bourgeault continues to be undefeated this season at 3-0 in the net.

At the faceoff circle, CUW went 37-25. Hansberger went 13-7 and McGown was 12-8.

The Falcons return to home ice Friday, Nov. 21 to place Lake Forrest in the first game for the Border Battle Cup. CUW is currently in position of the Cup after sweeping the Foresters last season. Puck drop is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Ozaukee Ice Center.
