St. Catherine Tops CUW in Augustana Hyatt Place Tournament Title Game

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team fell to St. Catherine in the championship game of the Augustana Hyatt Place Tournament on Sunday. The matchup marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

The Falcons opened the game with an impressive 15–2 run over the first 4:03 of play, shooting 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc during that stretch. Junior Andrea Butterbrodt (Green Bay, Wis.) fueled the start with nine early points, while freshman Isabela Gunderson (Waukesha, Wis.) and junior Gracie McNabb (Grafton, Wis.) each added a three-pointer. CUW went on to lead for nearly 75 percent of the contest, with its largest advantage reaching nine points in the second period.

With the game tied at 43–43 late in the fourth, the Falcons ran into foul trouble. St. Catherine capitalized, attempting 11 free throws in the final four minutes to pull ahead and secure the win.

Butterbrodt finished with a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds, shooting 50 percent (8-for-16) from the floor. Gunderson nearly posted a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds and made CUW's only two free-throw attempts, converting both. McNabb also scored in double figures, tallying 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting from three-point range.

The Falcons return home next Saturday, Nov. 29, to face North Central in their final nonconference matchup before beginning NACC play on Wednesday, Dec. 3. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside the R. John Buuck Field House.
