MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team battled the Cardinals of North Central College. The game was pushed forward to Friday night due to a winter storm heading into the Great Lakes region. The Cardinals flew away with a 70-59 victory.
The Falcons hung tough with 15 points in the first quarter on Friday night.
The Cardinals continued their hot shooting in the first half an held a 43-25 lead at halftime.
North Central ballooned the lead to 27 points late in the third quarter. The Falcons closed the quarter on a 9-2 run in the final two minutes. Junior Jayden Ross (Baraboo, Wis.) had three points in the run.
The Falcons continued to cut into the Cardinals' lead in the fourth quarter. Freshman Amya Pluess (Burlington, Wis.) hit a layup to clip the lead to 67-57.
Amya Pluess led the Falcons with 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Falcons open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Wednesday against Marian.
