AURORA, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team dropped an 88-64 decision to Aurora University on the road Sunday afternoon. The Falcons move to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.
The teams traded baskets early in the opening half, with Aurora maintaining a slim advantage. Concordia Wisconsin responded with a 14-2 run over a five-minute stretch midway through the half to take its largest lead of the game. Senior
Logan Landers (Cedarburg, Wis.) and junior
Jaden Guyton (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) combined for 14 points during the run, shooting 50 percent from the floor.
Aurora regained the lead with just over five minutes remaining in the first half and held control the rest of the way, pulling away in the second half to secure the victory.
Landers led all Falcons with 20 points and added nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double. Junior
Casey Verhagen (Sheboygan, Wis.) finished with 11 points and six assists, while Guyton recorded a season-high 10 points. Freshman
Ryan Heckman (Sussex, Wis.) made his collegiate debut and scored the first points of his career.
Defensively, junior
Javanni Blackman (Milwaukee, Wis.) posted two steals, while freshmen
JD Davison (Madison, Wis.) and
Alex Greene (Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded Concordia Wisconsin's two blocks.
The Falcons return to action Wednesday night when they host Dominican University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the R. John Buuck Field House.
