Falcons Push Win Streak to Seven with 4–2 Road Victory at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Concordia Wisconsin women's ice hockey team extended its win streak to seven with a 4-2 victory over Dubuque on Friday afternoon. The Falcons also remained perfect in NCHA play, improving to 5-0.

After a scoreless first period, CUW broke through early in the second. Following a shot from freshman Abby Hansberger (Elk River, Minn.), junior Ava Litkey (Kenosha, Wis.) gained control near the blue line and fired home her first collegiate goal. Senior Charlotte Toor (Hartland, Mich.) and freshman Faith Fedyniak (St. Albert, Alberta) earned assists on the play.

Later in the period, Hansberger created another scoring opportunity, feeding junior Naomi Black (Ottawa, Ontario) in front of the crease. Black redirected the pass for her fourth goal of the season.

The Falcons added to their lead early in the third when freshman Michaela Gerum (Wausau, Wis.) netted her first collegiate goal. After sophomore Kayla Gomes (Harrow, Ontario) battled along the boards, she found Gerum, who delivered a clean slapshot into the back of the net.

Dubuque responded with two goals late in the third, but Hansberger sealed the win with an unassisted tally in the final 30 seconds.

CUW generated an impressive 77 total shots, including 55 on goal. It marked the first time the Falcons have reached at least 70 shots in a game since facing Finlandia on Dec. 10, 2022. Junior Mackaylan McGown (Inver Grove, Minn.) paced the Falcons with 12 shots and led the team at the faceoff dot, winning 15-of-33 draws.

Sophomore goaltender Gretchen Paaverud (Ramsey, Minn.) earned the win in net, stopping 20 shots to move to 3-1 on the season.

The Falcons close out the series against Dubuque tomorrow at 2 p.m
