WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin baseball team opened the 2025 season with a convincing 7-0 victory at Carroll. The Falcons handed the Pioneers their first loss of the year and send the Orange and Blue to 3-1 on the young season.
The Falcons opened the scoring on Wednesday in the top of the first inning when senior Brynden Cleveland (Crestwood, Ill.) stole second base and senior Kyle Flynn (Downers Grove, Ill.) was able to capitalize and run across home plate.
Freshman Graham Kasten (Mequon, Wis.) made a splash in his debut with the Falcons when he crushed his first collegiate hit over the centerfield fence to clear the bases of Kyle Flynn, senior Jack Owens (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Hayden Reich (Sussex, Wis.) for a grand slam.
Kasten struck again in the sixth inning on a single to left field that plated senior Tyler Brandenburg (Saukville, Wis.) and senior Josh Aguiniga (Chicago, Ill.).
The Pioneers did not have a base runner safely reach second base until the ninth inning. Carroll loaded the bases but sophomore Alex Kuntz (Richfield, Wis.) was able to get a fly out to right field to end the game.
Graham Kasten led the contest with three hits and six runs batted in.
On the mound, the Falcons silenced the Pioneers with nine strikeouts and only three hits against. Senior Zach Slome (Schaumburg, Ill.) had three strikeouts in the start to lead the flock. Senior Owen Burns (Morris, Ill.) and senior Arthur Liebau (Mequon, Wis.) both finished with two strikeouts.
The Falcons look to continue their winning ways under the Arizona sun on Sunday against Bethany Lutheran.
