PLATTEVILLE, Ill. – Three members of the Concordia University Wisconsin distance squad made their mark at the UW-Platteville Invitational, each competing in the 5000-meter run.
Sophomore Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) and juniors Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) and Ainara Sainz de Rozas (Madrid, Spain) all delivered impressive performances. Ahrens and Arvis raced in the fourth heat, with Ahrens taking first place in their section with a time of 17:31.55. Arvis followed closely behind, finishing fourth in 17:34.49. Overall, Ahrens finished 21st, while Arvis placed 25th out of 134 total competitors.
In the final heat of the evening, Sainz de Rozas delivered a standout performance, clocking in at 16:54.99 to secure ninth place overall.
The trio will rejoin the rest of the Falcons squad tomorrow at the Beloit Relays.
