North Central Takes Non-Conference Battle from Baseball

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin baseball team wrapped up non-conference play on Saturday at North Central in Illinois. The Cardinals took the series with 4-3 and 14-0 victories. The Falcons are now 16-15 on the year.

North Central struck first on Saturday with three runs in the fourth inning.

Senior Tyler Brandenburg (Saukville, Wis.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard in the fifth inning with a home run over the fence in left field.

The Cardinals got the run back in the bottom half of the inning on a passed ball.

In the sixth inning, freshman Graham Kasten (Mequon, Wis.) doubled to left field to score senior Kyle Flynn (Downers Grove, Ill.).

With two outs, sophomore Alex Ames (Plymouth, Wis.) kept the Falcons alive in the seventh inning with a single to centerfield to score Tyler Brandenburg from second base.

On the mound, senior Jack Hribernik (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) pitched five innings and held the Cardinals to three earned runs. Junior Nikolai Nawracaj (New Lenox, Ill.) pitched the sixth inning and only allowed one hit.

Freshman Caleb Couser (Abingdon, Md.) made his first collegiate start in game two.

Freshman Charlie Wahlen (Grafton, Wis.), senior Chris Rooney (Mundelein, Ill.), and senior Jack Hartley (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) all appeared on the mound in game two.

CUW had hits from senior Brynden Cleveland (Crestwood, Ill.), sophomore Alex Pluta (Germantown, Wis.), junior Anthony Buono (Streamwood, Ill.), and Tyler Brandenburg in game two.

The Blue and White drew four walks in game two, with Alex Ames with two.

The Falcons return to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Wednesday at home against MSOE.
