Wills Tabbed as Men’s Volleyball Graduate Assistant

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin head men's volleyball coach Curtis Madson announced today the hiring of Derek Wills as the Falcons' new graduate assistant.

Derek comes to Mequon after a decorated career in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) and Marian University.  Wills played six seasons for the Sabers; during which time he was at three-time All-NACC First Team selection and a two-time Second Team selection, as well as ending his career as the NACC career kills record holder (1380).  He also was named to College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams on three occasions, excelling in the classroom as well during his time in Fond du Lac.  Wills currently plays in the Volleyball League of America, a semi professional league, for the Milwaukee Dive with former Falcon Andy Ellingham (2024).

Wills also brings with him experience coaching at the junior club level.  He spent two seasons coaching with Fox Valley Performance.  For the 2025-26 season he is working with Milwaukee Sting, working with their 16-2 team.

"We see Derek as a great fit for our program.  Not only did he excel on the court, as one of the NACC's top players over his career, but his commitment and achievement in the classroom as a student-athlete are just as impressive.  I think Derek aligns very well with the things we are trying to accomplish daily in our program.  I think Derek will be an amazing asset to our program.  He is very knowledgeable and eager to get into coaching.  I can't wait so see what he will do in our gym," head coach Curtis Madson said.

The Falcons open up their 2026 season on Jan. 15 in Santa Cruz, California at the Slug Slam Invitational.
