MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin men's volleyball head coach Curtis Madson was selected to work with USA Volleyball's National Team Development Program (NTDP) from December 28–30. Madson served as part of the coaching cadre for the U20 age group.
"To be able to be in the gym with such high-caliber players and coaches was an amazing experience," said Madson.
A total of 31 athletes were selected to train at USA Volleyball's Anaheim facility, each vying for a spot on the U20 Youth National Team, which will compete at the NORCECA Championship in June.
"Having the opportunity to represent your nation at the highest level is an honor—something that was preached throughout the three days of training," Madson added. "That message applied not only to the athletes, but to the coaching staff as well. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to represent Team USA and pursue the goal of a gold medal."
The coaching cadre featured Madson alongside Lead Coach Rory Prager (USC), Nickie Sanlin (McKendree), Larry Wrather (Fort Valley State), Jordan Goldberg (Masters), Andy Reid (USA Volleyball), and Sean Fontellio (Lionheart VBC).
"Being able to work with this great group of coaches, as well as Coach Kiraly, was an incredible opportunity," Madson said. "It provided valuable lessons that I hope to bring back to the CUW gym and build upon. This was a great experience to have heading right into the season."
