GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Concordia Wisconsin football team was a part of the first-ever college football game on the campus of Calvin University on Saturday afternoon.
Last year, the Falcons gave the Knights their first-ever loss in program history with a 34-24 Falcon victory on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Both teams went into week two with a 1-0 record with the Falcons taking down Thiel, 27-8, and Calvin obliterating Oberlin, 88-6.
The Maroon and Gold defended their new field with a 34-7 victory over the Falcons.
The Knights opened the afternoon with a pair of first quarter touchdowns.
The Falcons responded with a touchdown late in the second quarter, when junior Roman Funk broke free from the pocket and reached the left pylon for the lone CUW touchdown of the game.
The three-play drive was setup by an interception from Teddy Bruckner.
The Knights closed the contest on a 20-0 run to level the series.
Ben Birch led the contest with 14 tackles on Saturday.
Roman Funk threw for 218 yards against the Knights.
The Falcons look to regroup as Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play begins next weekend at Wisconsin Lutheran.
