BELOIT, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's soccer team tied Beloit college, 2-2, in a Saturday afternoon non-conference matchup. The Falcons are now 1-2-2 on the season.
Â
Beloit had the edge over CUW for a majority of the game. The Buccaneers held a two-goal lead until the 68-minute mark. Sophomore
Harris Burgos (Milwaukee, Wis.) found the back of the net for the first time this season to close in on the gap. Fellow sophomore
Nevin Volarath (Algonquin, Ill.) positioned the ball perfectly to allow Burgos to make the shot.
Â
The tying goal came from Volarth. The sophomore was awarded a penalty kick after a foul committed by Beloit happened inside the box. Volarth soared the ball past the Buccaneers goalie for his first goal of his career.
Â
The Falcons pushed during the second half with 13 of their 22 shots coming in the final 45 minutes. This also came with the help of eight corner kicks in the second half.
Â
The Falcons had a duo of goalkeeper to protect the net during the contest. Senior
Enrique Torres (Eau Clair, Wis.) started the match and clocked 26:48 in goal. Torres allowed one goal and collected two saves. Freshman
Pedro Duarte Silva (Lisbon, Portugal) made his second appearance this season, and protected the goal for the final 63:12. The European transplant also allowed one goal with one save.
Â
Concordia Wisconsin are set to begin NACC play on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Fitting Field. The Falcons will host Benedictine with first kick slated for 4 p.m.
