Men's Soccer Ties Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday

MEQUON, Wis. – The men's soccer team of Concordia University Wisconsin tied NACC rival Wisconsin Lutheran College in a weather filled match-up. The Falcons are now, 1-3-3, on the year and, 0-1-1, in conference play.

The all-time series is still in favor of Concordia Wisconsin, 25-5-5. The last time these two squads tied was in the 2022 season at home.

The first 45 minutes was a defensive battle between the two teams. CUW was able to get 11 shots off, compared to WLC's five, but nothing made it into the net. As the clock singled the end of the half weather moved into the area causing a lightning delay. The game was delayed for nearly an hour and half.

As the game resumed the players faced wet conditions on the turf of Fitting Field. The Falcons had a few chances to get into the net. Sophomores Huba Hajdu (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Harris Burgos (Milwaukee, Wis.) were able to get the ball just inches from the net before going off target.

Freshman goalie Connor Fitch (Eaton, Ohio) was awarded the starting position to protect the net. In only his second start, Fitch remained on the pitch for the entire match for the first time. Facing 10 shots from the Warriors, he made four saves and is now 0-1-1 on the year.

Concordia Wisconsin completed the contest with 21 shots, five on goal. Sophomore Nevin Volarath (Algonquin, Ill.) and Hadju led the team in shots with four each. Five different Falcons was able to get a shot on goal.

CUW continues their conference schedule with a game at Aurora on Wednesday. The contest is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Montgomery, Ill.
