ST. PETER, Minn. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's tennis team had an outstanding weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional and at the Midwest Invite.
Sophomore Hayden Latus (Waukesha, Wis.) picked up two victories in the ITA Singles Draw. He opened play wit a 2-6, 6-1, 10-7 victory over Albert Bostoen of Grinnell and upset No. 17 Zach Leslie of Carleton, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6. No. 1 Gage Gohl of Gustavus Adolphus advanced 6-3, 6-2.
Freshman Murilo Zeni (Curitiba, Brazil) sank Ezra Bernhard of Carleton, 6-4, 6-2. No. 5 Tyler Addorff of Gustavus Adolphus won, 1-6, 6-3, 10-3.
Freshman Gustavo Funo (San Jose dos Campos, Brazil) fell short against Finn Morris of Carthage, 6-2, 7-6.
In the B singles, bracket, freshman Renan Botelho (Itatiba, Brazil) was topped by Madden Vanderwerf of St. Olaf, 6-0, 6-4.
Junior Renan Revite (San Bernardo do camo, Brazil) was sunk by Gonzo De Lorenze of Gustavus, 6-2, 7-5.
At G singles, freshman Michael Rios (Chicago, Ill.) ran over Henry Raiche of St. John's, 6-1, 7-5. Thales Olivera of Bethany Lutheran bumped him with a -3, 6-1 victory.
Junior Kristopher Greenhaw (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was grounded in the H singles bracket against Max Guilliford of Hamline, 6-3, 6-1.
In the doubles main draw, Murilo Zeni and Renan Revite lost to UWS, 8-3.
The "B bracket saw Gustavo Funo and Renan Botelho grinded away Gustavus Adolphus, 8-4, but fell to Saint Scholastica, 8-7.
Kristopher Greenhaw and sophomore Samuel Michael (Athens, Ga.) were edged by Grinnell, 8-5.
Hayden Latus and Michael Rios fell short against St. Olaf, 8-5.
The Falcons close the fall season on October 5 against Lawrence.
