Men's Soccer Captures First Win of 2025 Campaign Against UW-Stout

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season after defeating UW-Stout 1-0 on Sunday. This is the first time since the 2023 season the Falcons won their home opener. That game was a, 3-0, victory against Carroll on September 8, 2023.

The game winning goal came only in the second minute of the game. Sophomore Huba Hajdu (Las Vegas, Nev.) sent the ball into the net with the help of sophomore Harris Burgos (Milwaukee, Wis.).

The Falcons continued their offensive firepower during the rest of the contest. The Royal Blue and Grey got off 15 shots, 11 being on goal. Freshman Aidan Cometa (Ofallon, Ill.), sophomore Jahsiah Acosta (Milwaukee, Wis.), and Hajdu got off two shots each.

Senior Enrique Torres (Eau Claire, Wis.)  was the starting goaltender for CUW. Torres played for just over 53 minutes, collecting seven saves. Freshman Connor Fitch (Eaton, Ohio) entered the pitch to protected the net for the final 36 minutes. Fitch had four key saves in his first career game to keep the Falcons shutout.

CUW will remain at home to play Loras on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The game at Fitting Field is slated for 4:30 p.m.
