MEQUON, Wis. – It was a wonderful ending for the careers of the CUW ACHA hockey senior class on Friday night as they closed out the home portion of the schedule against the Marquette Golden Eagles. The Falcons cruised to a 7-1 victory to improve to 17-10 and 7-2 in the NCHL Black Division.
Junior Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) started the scoring halfway through the first period with a shot just outside the crease off beautiful passes from senior Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) and senior Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.).
Six minutes later, senior McCarthy Clark (Chicago, Ill.) scored off a snipe from the near circle off an senior Andrew Malek (Milwaukee, Wis.) assist.
Sophomore Rocco Cicirello (Mequon, Wis.) scored the final goal of the period off a rebound of an junior Owen Almburg (Glenville, Ill.) shot and a sophomore Dominic Murano (Milwaukee, Wis.) secondary assist.
Dominic Murano lit the lamp early in the second period on a breakaway goal off a pass from Rex Staudacher.
Rocco Cicirello struck again in the second period after he tapped in puck the snuck through the five hole on a shot from freshman Connor Corrlet (Chicago, Ill.).
Marquette scored its lone goal of the game in the first minute of the third period.
Senior Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) capped off his time in the Ozaukee Ice Center with a shorthanded goal on a wraparound shot after Rex Staudacher sent the puck down the ice.
Andrew Malek closed the scoring after crashing the net off a short pass on an assist from Rex Staudacher.
The Falcons held a 66-22 advantage in shots on Friday.
Senior Austin Bartell (New Berlin, Wis.) finished with 21 saves in the victory.
