NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's track and field team opened its 2026 indoor season at the Pat Heenan Invitational on Saturday, hosted by North Central College. A total of 11 teams competed in the meet, including NACC opponents Benedictine and Concordia Chicago.
Junior
Isaiah Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.) led the Falcons on the track, winning the men's mile with a time of 4:22.27. The performance marked a new personal best for Lubner and currently stands as the top time in the NACC this season.
Lubner also teamed up with sophomore
Lucas Mathes (Brillion, Wis.), junior
Josh Sipes (Charleston, Ill.) and junior
Kyle Steiner in the 4x400-meter relay, where the quartet finished second overall.
Steiner competed in both the 60-meter dash and the high jump. He placed 16th in the 60m preliminaries with a time of 7.14, and later finished sixth in the high jump after clearing 1.75 meters.
Mathes turned in a strong performance in the triple jump, placing fifth with a leap of 13.36 meters. The mark set a new career best for the sophomore and currently ranks second in the NACC.
In the pole vault, freshman
Cooper Parent (O'Fallon, Ill.) finished ninth, clearing 3.65 meters.
The Falcons also saw solid efforts in the throwing events. Sophomore
Dayne Baker (Watertown, Wis.) placed 12th in the shot put with a throw of 12.27 meters, while senior
John Kutner (Muskego, Wis.) led Concordia in the weight throw, recording a mark of 12.98 meters.
Concordia Wisconsin returns to action next weekend at the Aurora Grand Prix on Saturday, Jan. 24. The meet will be held at the Gately Indoor Track & Field Center in Chicago, Ill., with competition beginning at 11 a.m.
