MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's hockey team had ts five-game winning streak snapped on Friday night by the second-ranked Spartans of Aurora. The Spartans secured a 9-0 victory to improve to 16-2-0 on the year.
The Black and Blue jumped out to an early lead with five goals in the first period.
The Falcons had a quality opportunity in the second period with a shot that snuck through the legs of the goalie but a defenseman cleared it out of harm's way.
Aurora added one goal in the second period and struck again three more times in the third period.
Sophomore Cameron Hrdlicka (Calgary, Alberta finished with 38 saves.
The Falcons held a 39-37 advantage in the faceoff circle on Friday.
The CUW home winning streak consisted of victories over Dubuque, Hamline and No. 3 St. Norbert.
Concordia looks to level the series on Saturday afternoon in Illinois.
