Women’s Hockey Sweeps Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's hockey team closed non-conference play on Tuesday night at Lake Forest. The Falcons extended their unbeaten streak to 17 games with a 2-1 win to improve to 17-1-1.

Senior Makayla Spejcher (Green Bay, Wis.) started the scoring on Tuesday night with a goal four minutes into the contest after she stole the puck back and found the back of the net.

The Foresters tied the game eight minutes later.

The Falcons possessed the puck for a majority of the second period on Tuesday night and were finally able to break through on the power play. Freshman Abby Hansberger (Elk River, Minn.) scored on a sharp-angled shot off assists from sophomore Scout Stromberg (Tomahawk, Wis.) and Makayla Spejcher.

Concordia locked down the defense in the third period and killed off a late penalty to preserve the victory.

Junior Carolyn Bourgault (Buffalo, N.Y.) posted 16 saves in the victory.

Concordia held a 40-17 advantage in shots.

Concordia returns to action on Friday night when they resume Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play at Lawrence.
