Falcons Compete at Squig Converse Invite

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's track and field team competed in day one of the Squig Converse Invitational on Friday, hosted by UW-Whitewater. Friday's schedule featured the multi events along with all men's individual events.
 
Junior Kyle Steiner led the way for the Falcons, placing 10th in the 60-meter dash and 15th in the long jump. Steiner clocked a time of 7.10 in the sprint before setting a new personal record of 6.09 meters in the long jump.
 
In the hurdles, senior Brandon Donahue (Hubertus, Wis.) and junior Luke Witte (Monroe, Mich.) both finished inside the top 15, placing ninth and 15th, respectively. Donahue posted a time of 9.05, while Witte crossed the line in 10.71.
 
Freshman Kaden Sanfelippo (Glendale, Wis.) competed in the men's mile and also set a new personal record. Sanfelippo finished second in his heat with a time of 4:57.96. Junior Isaiah Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.) ran in the 3,000-meter race, placing 13th overall while winning his heat in 8:43.26.
 
In the jumps, sophomore Lucas Mathes (Brillion, Wis.) placed ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.96 meters. Freshman Josh Kribs (Green Bay, Wis.) recorded season-best marks in both the long jump and triple jump, posting distances of 5.71 meters and 12.43 meters, respectively.
 
In the throwing events, sophomore Dayne Baker (Watertown, Wis.) produced the top mark for the Falcons in the shot put, reaching 11.86 meters on his second attempt to place 32nd. Dawson Kolka (Sanford, Mich.) also placed 32nd in the weight throw, setting a new personal best of 13.16 meters on his second attempt.
 
Junior Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) and freshman William Hemling (Beaver Dam, Wis.) competed in the heptathlon for the first time this season. After the first four events, Wendland sits seventh with 2,133 points, while Hemling is ninth with 1,875 points. Wendland's strongest performance came in the high jump, where he cleared 1.77 meters to place seventh and earn 602 points. Hemling found success in the 60-meter dash, collecting 706 points with a time of 7.52.
 
The Falcons' heptathletes will return to the track on Saturday to conclude the multi events.
