MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team fell to Milwaukee School of Engineering, 52-42, on Saturday afternoon at home. Despite the result, the Falcons welcomed back former players as part of the program's annual Alumni Game. CUW moves to 5-14 overall and 6-7 in NACC play.
The Falcons trailed 27-21 at halftime but responded with a strong third quarter to pull within one possession of the Raiders. CUW went on an 11-2 run over the final seven minutes of the period, momentarily swinging momentum. Junior
Jayden Ross (Baraboo, Wis.) and freshman
Isabela Gunderson (Waukesha, Wis.) each scored four points during the surge, while sophomore
Kristin Wentling (Arlington Heights, Ill.) added three.
MSOE regained control in the fourth quarter, holding the Falcons to nine points in the final 10 minutes to secure the win.
In just her second start of the season, Gunderson led all Falcons with 17 points, shooting 6-of-15 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. Wentling also reached double figures, finishing with 10 points.
Ross was active on the glass, leading CUW with seven rebounds as part of the team's 33 total boards.
Defensively, junior
Gracie McNabb (Grafton, Wis.) recorded a team-high four steals, while Wentling contributed two blocks.
The Falcons hit the road next to face Rockford on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Seaver Center in Rockford, Ill.
