ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team dominated Rockford, rolling to an 80-22 road victory on Wednesday night. The win extends the Falcons' advantage in the all-time series to 29-1, including victories in the last 28 meetings. CUW improves to 6-14 overall and 7-7 in NACC play.
The 58-point win marks the first time since the 2019–20 season that the Falcons have won by 50 or more points. That previous victory also came at Rockford, a 102-39 decision. It is also the first time since the 2020–21 season that CUW has held an opponent under 30 points, last accomplishing the feat against Alverno when the Falcons limited the Inferno to 24 points.
Concordia Wisconsin set the tone early, opening the game on a 7-0 run. With 3:08 remaining in the first quarter, the Falcons ignited a 23-2 run that carried into the second quarter. During a 6:52 stretch, CUW shot 10-of-11 from the field and 1-of-1 from three-point range, while collecting three steals and forcing five Rockford turnovers. Freshman
Kendall Weiler (Owen, Wis.) and junior
Jayden Ross (Baraboo, Wis.) each scored six points during the run, with four additional Falcons contributing baskets.
The Falcons continued to build their lead to as many as 30 points in the first half and entered halftime ahead 42-14. Weiler led CUW in the opening 20 minutes, going 4-of-5 from the field and scoring a career-high nine points. Concordia Wisconsin also took care of the ball, committing just three turnovers compared to Rockford's 12.
The Royal Blue and Grey kept their foot on the gas after the break, outscoring the Regents 20-6 in the third quarter. CUW held Rockford scoreless for nearly five and a half minutes during the period, scoring 11 unanswered points. Senior
Blayne Gacke (Crooks, S.D.) highlighted the run by knocking down her first collegiate three-pointer.
Concordia Wisconsin nearly shut out Rockford in the fourth quarter, allowing points only on an early trip to the free-throw line and a single layup. The Falcons closed the game on a 12-0 run over the final 5:02. Freshman
Addison Pertell (Sublette, Ill.) and sophomore
Hannah Moesch (Muskego, Wis.) paced the final stretch with eight and four points, respectively.
Fifteen Falcons saw action, with 13 finding the scoring column. Pertell and Weiler led the team with 12 points apiece, with Pertell setting a career high. Pertell was flawless from the floor, shooting 5-of-5 overall and 2-of-2 from beyond the arc.
CUW controlled the glass, outrebounding the Regents 41-24. Four Falcons recorded five rebounds each: junior
