EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team took on Wisconsin Stevens Points and Northwestern on Saturday at the Fay Menard YMCA in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The Falcons opened the day with a 0-7 loss to UWSP and closed the day with a 4-3 victory over Northwestern. The Blue and White move to 6-6 on the year.
Sophomore Katelyn de Guzman (Belvidere, Ill.) and freshman Abigail Haley (Frohna, Mo.) put up a valiant fight at No. 2 doubles against the Pointers, but fell, 5-7.
Freshman Taylor Weiner (Bakersfield, Calif.) battled on court four on Saturday against UWSP, but came up short, 4-6, 4-6.
Freshman Samantha Mudra (Hartford, Wis.) and sophomore Jaia Underwood (Glendale, Wis.) drew first blood against Northwestern at No. 3 doubles with a 6-3 win.
Katelyn de Guzman and Abigail Haley secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.
The Eagles tied the match at one with a victory on court two.
Katelyn de Guzman grounded Anne Clarke at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
At No. 4 singles, Taylor Weiner downed Hannah Hyttsten, 6-2, 6-2.
Northwestern fought back and tied the match with victories on courts one and six.
Samantha Mudra clinch the victory with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Macie Ruddy.
The Falcons return to action in March when they travel to Florida for five matches.
