LISLE, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team earned its first win of 2026 with a dominant 90-70 victory at Benedictine on Wednesday night. The win marks CUW's third straight over the Eagles in the all-time series. The Falcons improve to 6-8 overall and 4-3 in NACC play.
Concordia opened the contest with a seven-point run over the first two minutes. Senior
Logan Landers (Cedarburg, Wis.) knocked down a three-pointer to start the scoring, while freshman
Alex Greene (Milwaukee, Wis.) and junior
Severin Hilt (West Bend, Wis.) added layups to cap the early surge.
Benedictine responded midway through the first half and briefly took the lead, holding the advantage for the next seven minutes. CUW regained momentum late in the half, closing on a 12-2 run over the final 4:25. During the stretch, the Falcons shot 6-of-8 from the field, with junior
Casey Verhagen (Sheboygan, Wis.) scoring six points.
The Falcons carried that momentum into the second half, opening with an 8-1 run in the first two minutes. Landers scored six points during the run, and sophomore
Luke Eggemeyer (Perryville, Mo.) added a pair of free throws.
CUW controlled the remainder of the game, leading for 73.3 percent of the contest and building a lead as large as 21 points with under three minutes to play.
Sixteen Falcons saw action, led by Landers' 29-point, 13-rebound performance for his ninth double-double of the season. Verhagen and junior
Javanni Blackman (Milwaukee, Wis.) also reached double figures with 18 and 15 points, respectively. Hilt provided a spark from beyond the arc, going a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range to finish with 11 points.
Concordia returns to the road on Saturday, traveling to Wauwatosa, Wis., to face Wisconsin Lutheran. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. at the Time of Grace Center.
