Wwwwwwwwwwwomen’s Hockey Breaks School Record

MEQUON, Wis. – It was once again a historic night inside the Ozaukee Ice center for the Concordia Wisconsin women's hockey program. The Falcons broke the program record with their 11th win in a row, topping the record of 10 set last season. The Falcons improved to 12-1-0 on the year with a 2-0 victory over Beloit.

The first period was a defensive battle that was both goaltenders make some spectacular saves.

The Falcons broke through on the power play off a rebound from junior Naomi Black (Ottawa, Ontario), who netted her team leading fifth power-play goal of the season when she smacked in a deflection from junior Mackaylan McGown (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) off a shot from freshman Abby Hansberger (Elk River, Minn.).

The Falcons have scored power-play goals in back-to-back game for the first time this season.

The Birds struck again when freshman Michael Gerum (Wausau, Wis.) sniped a shot from the near circle after sophomore Taylor Heleniak (Mercer, Wis.) helped poke the puck free.

The Concordia defense silenced the Buccaneers with only two shots in the third period to preserve the victory.

Sophomore Gretchen Paaverud (Ramsey, Minn.) had 14 saves in the shutout. This is her third-straight shutout of the season.

Friday marked the first three-game shutout for the Falcons since a pair of victories over Lawrence and a 1-0 victory at Adrian in 2025.

The Falcons held a 32-14 advantage in shots on Friday night.

Concordia claimed domination once again in the faceoff circle, winning 27 of the 45 faceoffs. Mackaylan McGown won 12 faceoffs to lead the contest.

Last year's 10-game winning streak consisted of victories over MSOE, Lake Forest, King's, Dubuque and Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The Falcons will honor the senior class of Kaitlyn Hansen, Charlotte Toor, Hailey Calliguri and Makayla Spejcher on Saturday afternoon.
