Falcons Roll Past Lakeland, 98–78, on Senior Day

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team defeated Lakeland, 98–78, on Saturday afternoon. With one game remaining in the regular season, the Falcons improve to 13–11 overall and 11–6 in NACC play and have already secured a spot in the conference tournament.

Prior to tipoff, CUW honored its senior class. Will Bauer (New Berlin, Wis.), Sean Earley (Hickory Hills, Ill.), and Logan Landers (Cedarburg, Wis.) were recognized for their dedication and impact on the men's basketball program and Falcon Athletics.

The Falcons set the tone early, opening the game on a 12–4 run over the first 5:24, with Landers scoring twice inside and adding two free throws. Less than a minute later, CUW ignited a 22–5 surge spanning the next 4:56, shooting 9-of-11 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. Landers added six more points during the stretch, while Jacob Christjohn knocked down back-to-back three-pointers.

CUW's offense continued to overwhelm the Muskies, sending the Falcons into halftime with a commanding 53–30 lead.

Lakeland attempted to mount a second-half comeback, but the early deficit proved too large. CUW answered with a late 10–2 run to secure the 20-point victory. The Falcons never trailed, holding the lead for 99.1 percent of the contest and building an advantage as large as 27 points.

Thirteen Falcons scored in the win, led by Landers' dominant 34-point, 18-rebound performance for another career double-double. The senior shot 12-of-15 from the field and 10-of-11 at the free-throw line. Junior Casey Verhagen added 23 points and dished out a team-high nine assists, narrowly missing a double-double. Alex Greene also reached double figures with 13 points, going a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range.

The Falcons return to R. John Buuck Field House on Wednesday, Feb. 18, for their regular-season finale, hosting Marian at 7 p.m.
