Men’s Track and Field Finishes Fourth at Dick Hendricks Invitational

RIPON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's track & field team competed at the Dick Hendricks Invitational, hosted by Ripon, on Saturday. The Falcons placed fourth with 67 points, while MSOE captured the team title with 187 points.
 
CUW highlighted the meet with a strong showing in the 4x400-meter relay, entering three squads. The Falcons' "A" team of sophomore Lucas Mathes (Brillion, Wis.), freshman Kaden Sanfelippo (Glendale, Wis.), junior Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.), and junior Isaiah Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.) won the event in 3:28.47—good for the third-fastest time in program history. CUW's "B" and "C" relays placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
 
Senior Brandon Donahue (Hubertus, Wis.) earned a runner-up finish in the 60-meter hurdles. After qualifying sixth in prelims at 8.98, Donahue improved to take second in the finals.
 
Junior Kyle Steiner posted a pair of top-five finishes, placing third in the 200 meters with a time of 22.68 and fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.85 meters. Wendland also cleared 1.85 meters in the high jump, finishing second on tiebreak.
 
Three Falcons finished inside the top 10 in the 800 meters, led by Sanfelippo's third-place time of 2:01.07. Freshman Liam Wielert (Crown Point, Ind.) placed sixth in 2:05.82, while freshman William Hemling (Beaver Dam, Wis.) took eighth in 2:08.35. Sanfelippo and Wielert both recorded personal bests.
 
In the horizontal jumps, Mathes placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.73 meters and added a ninth-place finish in the long jump at 6.03 meters.
 
In the throws, sophomore Dayne Baker (Watertown, Wis.) finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 13.12 meters, while sophomore Dawson Kolka (Sanford, Mich.) placed ninth in the weight throw at 13.74 meters.
 
The Falcons will compete in their final regular-season indoor meet next Saturday at the Titan Challenge, hosted by UW–Oshkosh, before the conference championships in two weeks.
