MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's lacrosse team remained unbeaten with a 13–4 victory over North Central on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2024 and avenged last season's road loss to the Cardinals.
CUW seized control early, erupting for seven first-quarter goals, including six unanswered. Senior
Preston Meier (Owatonna, Minn.) opened the scoring just 1:05 into the contest before North Central briefly tied the game. Junior
Bryce Petersen (Waukesha, Wis.) then ignited a five-minute surge with three straight goals to record his second hat trick of the season and push the Falcons firmly in front.
Both teams scored once in a defensive second quarter, sending CUW into halftime with an 8–2 lead.
The Falcons extended their advantage quickly after the break with three goals in the opening four minutes of the third. Sophomore
Jackson Knutson (Roseville, Minn.) started the runoff with an assist from junior
Ben Birch (Grafton, Wis.), while Meier and Freshman
Kaleb Weikel (Andover, Minn.) added unassisted tallies. Meier's strike secured his first hat trick of the season. Knutson later added two more goals in the period to complete his second consecutive hat trick and stretch the margin to 13–3.
North Central scored the lone goal of the fourth quarter, but the Falcons' lead proved insurmountable.
Knutson finished with three goals, two assists, and three caused turnovers, while Peterson paced the offense with seven shots on goal. Meier added five shots on target, and freshman
Gaje Germundson (Nisswa, Minn.) recorded three. Weikel led CUW with four ground balls, and senior
Frank Trewyn (Mukwonago, Wis.) went 10-for-16 at the faceoff circle.
In goal, sophomore
Nolan O'Malley (Chicago, Ill.) turned aside 21 shots for an .840 save percentage to improve to 2-0 on the season.
CUW begins its spring break trip to Pennsylvania this weekend, opening at Washington & Jefferson on Sunday at 1 p.m. (ET) before facing Allegheny on Tuesday.
