Stevens Point Spoils Home Opener

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team opened the home portion of the 2026 schedule on Wednesday evening. The Falcons fell to 1-2 on the young season with a 12-9 loss to Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The Falcons made it rain goals in the snow during the first quarter on Wednesday.

Junior Emily Robertson (Canton, Mich.) scored the first goal of the contest in the second minute of the game off an assist from senior Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.).

A minute later, the NACC Student-Athletes of the Week connected once more, with Cardinale scoring off a feed from Robertson.

CUW added to the lead with Cardinale's second goal of the game off a pass from sophomore Carlijn van der Bend (Voorburg, Netherlands).

The Pointers found the back of the net, but Robertson scored in the final seconds of the quarter to give the Falcons a 4-1 lead at the break.

Stevens Point started the second quarter on a 4-0 run to take the lead.

Robertson completed her hat trick with a woman-up goal to tie the game at five before halftime.

Stevens Point outscored Concordia 5-1 in the third quarter, with Cardinale netting the lone CUW goal.

Cardinale started the fourth-quarter comeback with an early goal.

The Pointers responded with a goal two minutes later, but the Falcons rushed down the field and scored 18 seconds later off the stick of Robertson on a pass from Cardinale.

CUW made it a two-goal game 18 seconds later after Cardinale cut through the defense and found the back of the net.

The Falcons held a slim 34-33 advantage in shots on Wednesday. Cardinale led the contest with 11 shots on goal.

Concordia caused 14 turnovers on the evening, with senior Delainey McCardle (West Bend, Wis.), Robertson, and Cardinale all causing three turnovers.

Cardinale led the Falcons with eight ground balls and seven draw controls.

Junior Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) posted 12 saves on the evening.

The Falcons look to bounce back on Friday against Wisconsin-Stout.
