Falcons Drop Road Match to Warriors

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's volleyball team fell to Wisconsin Lutheran in three sets on Saturday afternoon. The win marks the Warriors' first victory over the Falcons since 2021, though CUW still leads the all-time series 5-1. With the result, the Falcons move to 4-16 overall and 3-7 in NACC play.
 
Both teams traded points early in the opening set. Wisconsin Lutheran created separation midway through the frame, but Concordia Wisconsin stayed within striking distance. Despite the Falcons' efforts, the Warriors held on for a 25-23 set victory. CUW hit an impressive .286 in the opening set, recording 15 kills. Sophomore Parker Butterfass (Shakopee, Minn.) led the way with four kills, while sophomore Owen Kolozsy (Carol Stream, Ill.) and seniors Chase Ammons (Elm Grove, Wis.) and Tate Miller (Anthem, Ariz.) each added three.
 
The second set followed a similar pattern, with the teams battling throughout. Wisconsin Lutheran again edged out the Falcons by a 25-23 margin before securing the match with a third-set victory.
 
CUW finished the match with 31 kills, led by Kolozsy's nine. Butterfass contributed seven kills and two service aces, while Hayden Hurley paced the offense with 26 assists.
 
At the net, sophomore Reid Scott (Chandler, Ariz.) and Ammons combined for two block assists, with Ammons adding the Falcons' lone solo block. Defensively, Kolozsy led the team with 10 digs, while freshman Cooper Dammann (Altadena, Calif.) recorded six digs in the primary libero role.
 
The Falcons return to the R. John Buuck Field House on Wednesday for the final week of the regular season, hosting Rockford at 7 p.m.
