CUW Claims Team Title at Beloit Relays Behind Strong All-Around Effort

BELOIT, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's track and field team turned in a dominant performance Friday night at the Beloit Relays, capturing the team title with 222 points. The Falcons finished 39 points ahead of host Beloit, earning their first regular season team championship since the 2022 outdoor campaign (WLC Green & White Invite).
 
Junior Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Falcons on the track, winning the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.90. Sophomore Brandon Donahue (Hubertus, Wis.) followed closely behind, placing second in 16.25.
 
In the 100 meters, sophomore Victor Watson Jr. (Cypress, Texas) paced CUW with a fourth-place finish (11.75), while freshman Aaron Mudge (St. Louis, Mo.) took sixth (11.82). Wendland also added a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 55.38.
 
Sophomore Lucas Mathes (Brillion, Wis.) placed fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.95, while William Hemling earned a fifth-place finish in the 1,500 meters (4:44.08).
 
The Falcons' 4x100-meter relay team of Watson Jr., Mudge, freshman Alex Spartz, and junior Kyle Steiner placed third with a time of 43.93.
 
Freshman Cooper Parent (O'Fallon, Ill.) highlighted the field events with a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.65 meters. Wendland showcased his versatility by adding a third-place finish in the event (3.50 meters).
 
In the throws, sophomore Dayne Baker (Watertown, Wis.) delivered a strong all-around performance, placing second in the discus (43.00 meters), third in the shot put (13.51 meters), and fourth in the hammer throw (40.59 meters).

Senior John Kutner (Muskego, Wis.) recorded a pair of runner-up finishes, taking second in both the hammer throw (45.53 meters) and javelin (37.79 meters). Junior Luke Witte (Monroe, Wis.) claimed the javelin title with a mark of 38.40 meters.
 
The Falcons will return to action at Augustana College's Meet of Champions in Rock Island, Illinois. The two-day event is scheduled to begin Friday, April 17, and conclude Saturday, April 18.
