MEQUON, Wis. – On Wednesday morning, the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced it Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Week Awards. The league's athletic communications professionals voted Zach Wendland as the NACC Field Athletic of the Week.
A junior form Green Bay, Wisconsin, Zach Wendland is securing the honor for the first time this season. This is the second time in his career that he has claimed the outdoor title and the fourth time in his career.
Wendland claimed the honor for his performance at the Augustana Meet of Champions.
This weekend he soared at Augustana with the 20th-ranked decathlon score in NCAA Division III with 6405 points, his best of his career. He recorded personal-best performance in the shot put, pole vault, long jump, discus throw, 400-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles and in the 100-mter dash. He also claimed the crown in the long jump, high jump and 1500-meter runs in his first-place performance in Rock Island, Illinois.
The last time he claimed the honor was for his showing at the 2024 Augustana Meet of Champions.
AJ Springer of the Milwaukee School of Engineering claimed the NACC Track Athlete of the Week title.
Wendland and the Falcons return to action on Saturday at St. Norbert.
