Women’s Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day

MEQUON, Wis. – The Cordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team had the opportunity to claim a home Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament Quarterfinals contest with a win on Wednesday. The Raiders of MSOE spoiled the festivities with a 19-11 victory to secure a home contest of their own.

Before the game, the Falcons honored the senior class of Makayla Spejcher (Green Bay, Wis.), Delainey McCardle (West Bend, Wis.), Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and Claire Geidel (Seward, Neb.).

The Raiders scored on their first shot of the game to take an early lead.

Katelyn Cardinale tied the game a minute later off an assist from sophomore Carlijn van der Bend (Voorburg, Netherlands).

The Raiders responded with a 5-0 run before junior Emily Robertson (Canton, Mich.) stopped the scoring spree.

The Raiders capitalized on their final three shots of the quarter and held a 9-2 lead after the first quarter.

Momentum was with the Falcons to start the second quarter with an early goal from Emily Robertson.

Four minutes later, Katelyn Cardinale trimmed the lead to five with a goal off a feed from junior Carolyn Bourgeault (Buffalo, N.Y.).

The Raiders rumbled back with three goals to elevate the lead to 12-4.

Katelyn Cardinale netted a free position goal, but MSOE scored one of their own right before halftime to take a 13-5 lead into the break.

The Falcons stormed back to start the second half and had goals from Emily Robertson, Carolyn Bourgeault off a pass from Makayla Spejcher and another Emily Robertson goal.

The Raiders deflated the momentum with back-to-back goals with 3:55 left in the quarter.

CUW quickly took a bite out of the lead again 30 seconds later when Makayla Spejcher found the back of the net off a Katelyn Cardinale assist.

Carolyn Bourgeault made it a 10-15 game with a goal with 53 second left in the quarter off a feed from Claire Geidel.

MSOE elevated the lead one more in the fourth quarter with three-straight goals.

Emily Robertson struck again with 1:45 left, but it was not enough.

MSOE held a 41-25 advantage in shots, including 30-13 shots on goal advantage.

Junior Naomi Black (Ottawa, Ontario) held the Falcons with five caused turnovers.

The Falcons will face MSOE again on Saturday in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinals in Milwaukee.
