Men’s Track & Field Soars at St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's track & field team had one more tune up before the conference championships on Friday. The Falcons finished in third place at the St. Norbert College Invite with 85 points.

Junior Mason Everts (Saukville, Wis.) opened the day with a personal-best time of 16:27.41 in the 5000-meter run in 11th place.

The Concordia men then placed third in the 4x100-meter relay with the team of sophomore Victor Watson Jr. (Cypress, Texas), freshman Aaron Mudge (St. Louis, Mo.), freshman Alex Spartz and freshman Josh Kribs (Green Bay, Wis.) at 45.17.

Junior Riley Johnson (Cedar Lake, Ind.) competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase and finished 16th at 12:02.32.

In the 110-meter hurdles, junior Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) was fourth at 15.75 with a personal-best time. Senior Brandon Donahue (Hubertus, Wis.) was 11th at 19.0 and freshman William Hemling (Beaver Dam, Wis.) was in 13th at 21.71.

Freshman Liam Wielert (Crown Point, Ind.) led a quartet of Falcons in the 1500-meter run in 20th place at 4:23.72. Freshman Carter Bonlender (Eldorado, Wis.) was in 23rd place at 4:29.64, ahead of freshman Jackson Huebner (Watertown, Wis.) in 24th place at 4:38.89 and sophomore Eric Krause (Jackson, Wis.) in 25th place at 4:41.87.

A pair of Falcons posted personal-best times in the 400-meter dash on Saturday with senior Nicholas Maksymiu (Deerfield, Wis.) in 10th place at 52.86 and sophomore Brock Roseman (Pueblo, Colo.) in 12th place at 53.34.

In the 100-meter dash, Victor Watson posted a personal-best time of 11.28 in sixth place. Alex Spartz secured 11th place at 11.49 and Arron Mudge was 12th at 11.52.

The first victory on the track for the Falcons came in the 800-meter run with junior Isaiah Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.) at 1:54.49. Freshman Kaden Sanfelippo (Glendale, Wis.) was 16th at 1:59.54 with a personal-best time and freshman Gabriel Baker (Stockton, Calif.) also had a personal-best time in 32nd place at 2:09.41.

The winning ways continued the 400-meter hurdles with Zach Wendland at 54.52 with a personal-best time. Junior Aaron Klug (Arlington, Va.) ended in ninth place at 1:06.03 and junior Luke Witte (Monroe, Mich.) was in 10th place at 1:07.98.

In the long jump it, sophomore Lucas Mathes (Brillion, Wis.) led the Falcons in fifth place at 6.69 meters with sophomore Corban Jackson (Green Bay, Wis.) in seventh place at 6.57 meters in seventh place.

Wendland also secured the javelin title on Saturday at 44.89 meters for a personal-best mark. Senior John Kutner (Muskego, Wis.) collected fourth-place honors with a personal-best mark of 42.08 meters.

Nicholas Maksymiu led the Bird in the 200-meter dash at 23.65 in 13th place, with Corban Jackson in 22nd place at 24.69.

Sophomore Dayne Baker (Watertown, Wis.) led the Falcons in 11th place in the shot put at 13.10 meters and in the discus throw at 42.49 meters in fifth place.

Freshman Cooper Parent (O'Fallon, Ill.) led the charge in the pole vault competition in fifth place with a personal-best mark of 3.80 meters.

Three Falcons competed in the triple jump, with Lucas Mathes third at 13.21 meters, freshman Josh Kribs (Green Bay, Wis.) in fourth place at 13.10 meters and Aaron Klug in fifth place at 12.35 meters,

John Kutner finished in the top 10 in the hammer throw in seventh place at 47.21 meters.

The Falcons will compete for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference title starting on Friday.
