NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's track & field team was represented on Wednesday at the St. Olaf Manitou Last Chance Multi. Zach Wendland represented the Falcons in the decathlon and finished the opening five events on Wednesday.
A junior from Green Bay, Wisconsin, Zach Wendland entered the day ranked 28th in the nation in the decathlon with 6405 points after his performance at the Meet of Champions.
Wendland opened the day with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a career-best time of 11.58.
He then placed second in the long jump at 6.27 meters.
In the shot put competition, he placed fifth with a career-best mark of 10.45 meters.
Wendland soared in the high jump in third place at 1.82 meters.
He then claimed the individual title with a career-best time in the 400-meter dash with a winning time of 49.38.
After day one, Wendland is in second place at 3382 points.
Wendland closes the two-day competition on Thursday in Minnesota.
