Minneapolis
Nationally-ranked Bethel roared to a 54-0 third period lead before
settling for a 54-10 win over the Falcons (0-2) Saturday afternoon
in Minneapolis.
With their ground game smothered, Concordia's only offensive
success came via the arm of quarterback Brandon Corona who
completed 10 of 20 aerials for 103 yards.
The lone Falcon touchdown was scored by defensive lineman Vincent
Denor who pounced on a fumble in the end zone with six minutes
remaining.
Concordia's Dan Winsey scored the other 3 points of the contest
when he booted a 22 yard field goal on Concordia's final play.
"They (Bethel) are an outstanding team", confided Falcon mentor
Greg Etter. "We actually improved over game one in a variety of
areas against a stronger opponent."
Freshman Leon Davis, who hauled in 3 passes for 45 yards was a
bright spot in the Concordia offense, and Matt Upson was all over
the field defensively- credited with 8 tackles and 2 assists.
CUW, outscored 117-20 in two Minnesota weekends, will look
forward to playing on the friendly turf at Century Stadium next
week against Carthage.
