Rockford, Il
A two-out single in the bottom of the 9th scored the tying and
winning runs as Rockford edged CUW 5-4 in game one of the NAC twin
bill opener for both schools today.
CUW had managed single tallies in the 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 8th to
take a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.
Concordia ace Derrick Pankow hit the first two Rockford batters
in that fateful ninth before recording two outs; one of those a
sacrifice bunt that moved the runners into scoring position.
Then Ryne Billesbach singled to right to seal the Falcon fate.
Matt Schilter and Dan Shea each had two of the 10 Falcon hits.
Pankow fell to 1-3 on the season.
