CUW barely beat both the darkness and MSOE, scoring the winning run
with two down in the 11th (about 7pm) to earn their first NAC win
last night on the saturated Concordia diamond.
The Falcons (5-9) took a 4-0 lead in the first inning on hits by
Ryan Schilter, Derrick Pankow, Dan Shea, and Harry Steldt, but the
Raiders (3-12) came back with 3 of their own in the top of the
second against Brent Behling... and a see-saw battle ensued.
MSOE actually led 7-6 before Val Keiper's team drew even in the
8th when Matt Schilter singled and came all the way around on an
MSOE throwing error.
With two down in the Falcon 11th, Ryan Schilter singled and
stole second. Derrick Pankow walked and Dan Shea was hit by a
pitch to load the bases before Adam Martz' unplayable infield
dribbler scored the game-winner.
Concordia pitchers Ryan Baglow, Glen Meyerhofer, and winner
Pankow combined for 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
